JUST PART OF THE JOB Ranches
throughout the Southwest are usually in rocky, brushy or cactus filled
country, and don't have the lush pastures found in other areas. Because
of drought or just the need to change grazing areas, a cowboy will
have to move the herd across some pretty rough country. Sometimes
it is hard for the young calves to keep up with the rest of the herd,
so he will do whatever needs to be done to get one of the little stragglers
to where it has to be. In today's climate of political correctness,
grazing wars, public land use legal battles and animal rights disputes,
this scene could truly be depicting the future's endangered species! |
