RIDIN' THE HIGH LONSOME Spring
is a special for ranchers. The new calves need to be rounded up, counted
and branded. There is a ranch near Prescott that Bill helps during
the spring round up. It is in a long, open valley that is bordered
on both sides by high rimrock mesas. Before sunrise he and the other
hands ride out and split up to gather different sections of the ranch.
As the sun comes up, it spreads a warm glow over the land and from
every direction cowboys can be seen bringing cattle down from the
high country of the mesas to the hold-up grounds in the valley below.
Bill felt compelled to capture that image.
