THE COUP ROBE Every culture from Egyptian, Native American, to the modern businessman has accomplishments joys and sorrows, battles won or lost, which remain etched across their minds. These stories have been painted throughout the world on caves, temples, teepees, animal hides and woven on fabrics from time-immemorial. In this sculpture Bill is telling the story of one Native American who is painting another image on a buffalo robe that tells of his latest victory in battle against an enemy. The greatest proof of his courage was not to kill his enemy, but to get close enough to touch that adversary and not be killed himself. These stroies of his "coup" will be told again and again which will extend his legacy the memory of his life to grandchildren generations after him.
