The ranching and cowboy way of life is usually a family tradition.  If the mom or dad is from a ranching family, than usually the kids are too.  It's not just the horse, or cows, or the land, or the open spaces.   There is an entire cultural belief, attitude and heritage that is passed down from generation to generation.  The kids do 4H, Junior Rodeos, and horse shows.  Mom, dad and the grandparents did the same activities years ago, and now judge, time events and haul stock everywhere.  These boots are Bill's way of telling that story of the bond between generations of cowboy families.
