With each spring we see the newness of life in so many ways.  Warm sunshine melts the snow, grass and flowers begin to push through the cold earth, winds bring the spring rains and young animals are born and begin their enthusiastic introduction to the world, with all the innocent freedom naturally born in them.  In this simple sculpture of a young colt running, leaping, bucking and jumping free as the wind, we can see a connection between its pleasure in that feedom and the Spirit of the West.  Whether in the historic past, or the modern West, there is a sense of self-determination and the possiblities that liberty bestows on all creation.  As this colt runs and bucks, after some unseen wonder, we can feel that same desire, passed  down to us from pioneers, cowboys and settlers,who were CHASIN' THE WIND, to pursue their happiness, hopes, dreams and ideals with as much abandon .
